English is the world's leading international language. In different countries around the globe, English is acquired as the mother tongue, in others it is used as a second language. Some nations use English as their official language, performing the function of administration; in others it is used as an international language for business, commerce and industry. The course on B.A.English Literature was started in the year 2010 at Patrician College of Arts and Science for students who are interested and love to have a Career in English by doing a graduate course.

Active and diverse research culture encompassing theoretical and applied aspects of English linguistics. A close and caring student/staff community. You are introduced to the nature and grammar of English in all its aspects. This involves the study of sound structures, the formation of words, the sequencing of words and the construction of meaning, as well as examination of the theories explaining these aspects of English usage. You are encouraged to develop your own individual responses to the practical and theoretical issues raised by studying how speakers and writers employ English for a wide variety of purposes. The opportunity to combine language and literature studies.

The degree is taught by the Department of English who are highly qualified. This means you are taught by staff doing some of the best teaching and makes for a uniquely stimulating and exciting learning environment. We adopt a hands-on approach to learning which develops employability skills through problem-solving exercises, project work and skills workshops. We can ensure that the B.A.English graduates will go on to take up careers in publishing, journalism, personnel, management, administration, and education (among many others).

Many English students find that their advanced language abilities (WRITING, EDITING, PUBLISHING ) lend themselves to a wide range of writing and publishing careers.

They can go into business organizations, helping with newsletters, public relations, marketing and direct services related to information design.

They can go into the computer industry and work as technical writers, developing guidelines and publications for consumers of software products.

Some English students go directly into publishing and editing - getting on at a magazine or book publisher. This career path often requires some experience in marketing and public relations as well as advanced copy editing abilities.

And of course, many English majors purse creative writing as a supplement to another career area, or if they are successful in gaining a broad readership, they become a professional writer making their living through creative works.

English students with journalism experience find numerous opportunities for working in organizations, businesses, and government or for news media.
