Vision

To specify and assess the essential knowledge and skills involved in taking overall responsibility for the corporate secretarial function in small, medium and large scale organizations and to nurture future business leaders and entrepreneurs in various sectors of economy with focus on value creation and responsibility towards all stakeholders for a sustainable society based on human values, ethics, science and Indian culture.

ABOUT THE DEPT

The dept of corporate secretary ship is an active and vibrant dept with a good track record for the past 4 years. Focus on a better curriculum in order to produce well qualified professionals who are abreast of corporate sector. Our curriculum is to provide the most current knowledge and skills for the individuals to get them shaped as Entry/Mid level professionals in the corporate sector. We provide real world perspective and institutional details, which will enable the students to understand the corporate sector better. The department encourages and guides the students who are willing to take up the ACS course.

Report For 2009-2010

Corp Ship Associationwas inaugurated on 17th August 2009 by the Chief Guest Mr. Nataraja Somasundram, Manager of AVIA, Chennai. The aim of the association is to excel the students talents by Motivates and encourages to participate in various Inter collegiate and Inter department activities. Various competitions like Logo Designing, Product Packaging, Quiz, Ad-Zap and Paper Presentation were conducted. Masobatra, an intercollegiate cultural event coordinated by commerce, management, and corporate secretary ship departments, was held on March 9th and 10th 2010 respectively. Dr.Duraipandian, Principal, Agarson college, Chennai inaugurated the event. Thiru Keezhanur Rajendran,ex-mla, was the chief guest of the valediction and released the magazine "Masobatro". Around 20 colleges participated. Hindustan college bagged the championship and new college the Runners up trophy.Our thanks to the following sponsors:

Report For 2010-2011

On 15th of March 2011, the department Corp Ship conducted inter-department Paper-Presentation competition called “CORP-TALK” ,The topic was “WORKERS PARTICIPATION IN THE MANAGEMENT IN INDIAN COMPANIES”. Mrs. Gajalakshmi, HR, Pioneer India Limited judged the Paper presentation. Mrs. Roshini Devi, Director, Versatile Business School and Avidus presented a seminar on Higher Education and career planning to the final year students. The first years were taken to an Industrial visit to Ashok Leyland and Final year students went on a 3 day industrial trip to Mysore and Coorg between 27th and 29th January.

MASOBATRA:

The Department of Commerce, Management Studies, and Corporate Secretaryship conducted ‘MASOBATRA 2011’, an inter-collegiate meet on 25th February 2011. Mr. V. Manikandan, Head, Department of Accounting and Finance and Bank Management of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College (Evening) was the chief guest and he inaugurated the function. The overall winners were RKM Vivekananda College (Evening) and the runners up were The New College. The official magazine of MASOBATRA 2011 was released by our principal Dr. J. Gnanapushpam on 8th March.

KALEIDOSCOPE:

Departments of commerce, Management, and corporate secretary ship, organized a National level seminar “KALEIDOSCOPE” on the tiltle “Transformation, Adaptation and Sustainability for future growth” on 5th March 2011. Many renowned speakers were invited to preside over the technical sessions. CD containing all the abstracts of the various articles was released by Mr. Sarath Babu, CEO, Food King who also inaugurated the seminar.

Report For 2011-2012

Corp-ship association was inaugurated on 15th December 2011 by Mr.Baba Prasanna, director AAM B – School & Ms. Roshini Devi director VERSATILE BUSINESS SCHOOL, Chennai and judged corp-talk inter-department  paper presentation competition.  The Topics are from current issues: 
Topics are:

  1. Impacts of the foreign direct investment in Retail sector on kirana shops in india.
  2. Exploring the effect of rise in Bus fares on Railway commutation in Tamilnadu.
  3. Impact of legal environment on business in Chennai.

Totally 18 teams were participated from various departments and 5 teams were got places following departments are :

  2. II  place- IIIrd B.Com(A)/IInd B.Com (evening)
  3. III place- IInd B.Com (B)/Ist B.Com (c.s)

 

The department of commerce, management studies and corporate secretaryship conducted masobatra 2011 an inter collegiate meet on 23rd September 2011 Dr. R. Rangaraj, Head Department of Commerce University of Madras was the functions. The overall winners were M.O.P Vaishnav College for Women and the runners up were the WCC, Chennai. The Magazine of masobatra 2011 was released by the chief guest.
Consumer Awareness program and two days exhibition organized by consumer club along with commerce, management studies and corporate secretaryship. Corporate Secretaryship department participated on a topic of “London Dreams” to bring the awareness among the visitors about the scope of higher studies, employment opportunities recognized universities etc.,
Department of Corporate Secretaryship along with Department of Business Administration organized seminar on “Making Sense out of Sensex” on 28th February 2012. The Resource person V. Balasubramaniam, Secretary, Madras Stock Exchange addressed the students on various issues relating to regulations in stock exchange and also answered the various queries of students.

The Department of Corporate Secretaryship released Corpship Magazine on 1st March 2012 by Rev. Bro. Arokiaraj, Correspondent.
